obviously in this example they measured the car with with the steering wheel slightly to the left, then again with the steering wheel straight. no adjustments were made. total toe ( witch is the most important did not change ...) steer ahead should be 0.00 and toe should be equal on both sides
I have a 2013 sonic 1.4 turbo and I was driving my car all of a sudden got louder so I tried to get home then the engine power reduce light came on and my car went to 5mph then it cut off and I tried to turn it back on and no response so months later I took it to a shop they replaced the body control module and the car worked great for 3 days and it went back to the same issue so I took it back and they couldn’t find the issue , so far I replaced the starter , ignition switch , battery and still no solution so the shop installed a button to start the car which it’s wired to the starter so when the car don’t start from the key I have to hold the button to start so I drove it back home the engine reduce came back on again and I just left it parked and I still can’t figure it out
That's a crazy problem
Ask for the old parts back. Make them align to CENTER of spec not just inside the limits
Who puts new tires on a car and doesn't get the alignment checked. You sound like a real resentful person. Ever hear buyer beware. We all pay up but new tires and an alignment. So they're supposed to check yours and do it for free. ??? I pay for alignments twice a year to make sure.
Never did trust. Still today.
There's no coolant, correct? Just water?
correct
The Mos idiotic fact is that you don't have where to complain...if you are victim😢
i never change mine and i drive many vehicles, motorcycles, trucks, cars... it goes without saying -i never had any problems with brake (oil)...
btw i also avoid riding in rain, as much as possible, cause water is the enemy not only for brake fluid but for everything around your vehicle
I've never changed it either
Spicy Cam. I would use all Comp Cams part as possible, because they are very high quality.
They work very well
Dude, i soldered copper pipes all the times i did any kind of bathroom and or kitchen renovation.. i never thought of doing this on a car... i have a small 1/4 inch hole near my windshield on the roof, thats filled for the moment with an acrylic caulking... would this type of repair actually work???
I do it all the time
I know I’m 2 years watching this but a great video. I had this happen to me about 5 years ago and I went back and had them show me the wrench marks and they couldn’t find them.
Woe.... You change the tire I paid for and you aren't getting paid. Who the hell are they to change what you purchased... I don't care if they are better or not..... This shit is why I don't trust anyone to do anything to my stuff.
If your vehicle doesn't pull to one side or the other and your tires are wearing normally, you don't need an alignment.
Mavis down here in Florida is a perfect example.
I need to take my old pickup to a mechanic but i keep putting it off because i have had so many mechanic nightmares multiple times in a row. I just put it off because i just can't deal with it right now. It's ridiculous. I simply don't know where to go now.
With the way cars are built today, especially economy cars, i would be amazed if it was in perfect alignment
Ok, lots of details of this story do sound sketchy. But having adjusted toe-in before, it absolutely is possible to adjust by a few thousandths of an inch. It's a screw adjustment, which obviously has a mechanical reduction, just like a micrometer. How you could be a mechanic and not know this is kind of mind boggling. That being said, paying $99 for that 0.04deg change is definitely not worth it. My guess as to how this all played out is a little different than what you proposed (the guy yelling to the mechanic and him using a hammer). The adjustment was done before they even phoned you, because it was more time efficient to just do it and take the chance you'd decline it. An experienced mechanic could do a toe-in on one side in just a couple of minutes, once the car is set up. Using a hammer would take longer, because you'd have no reliable way of knowing how much, if anything, you're changing the toe-in with a hammer. You'd have to whack it, re-do all the measurements, then repeat until you get it right.
I suspect you're 100% right
If the wear on the tires look even, the car goes straight down the road and does not wander, your alignment is just fine.
This
Thank You Pete for all the Detailed information about the 440 Rebuild, Especially, The Roller Rocker Arms centering and lash adjustment and how to center the Roller on the Rocker Arm to the Valve stem with an Marker!
Glad it was helpful!
Another scam like nitrogen for tires😂😂😂
I used to have pretty good luck with Dunn-Tire....BEFORE they were bought out by Discount Tire. Not sure what the total buyout was, but there were 25 locations and supposedly they paid $4.1 million for just two locations. If you do the math, you're over $50 million. I'd be shocked if their service managers aren't under an incredible amount of pressure to jack up prices.
4:02 You don't know if they replaced tire pressure monitor kits? Why not ask for old parts?
They could easily grab some from any used pile. That's not an accurate way to check either. But good attempt.
Im a tyre technician. And this guys an idiot. If you understood how tyres and suspension works you wouldn't be wasting every bodys time.
He definitely is out of his element. However, he was probably correct when he said 0.04deg out of spec was fine. We have to remember that wheel alignment specs are manufacturing tolerances when brand new. If they drift outside of those tolerance by a bit, it's not the end of the world. There are millions upon millions of 5+ year old cars out there driving around with out-of-spec alignment and we don't have an epidemic of uneven tire wear or poor vehicle handling.
Thanks!
Welcome!
Check.your alignment and chasis every year..this guy is a douche
Hi there Pete...Did you remove the washers on the cam bolts to install the cam button? Thanks...Tom Lacy
Depending on the combination of bolts and button, you may have to trim down the washers to get the button to fit
Babbles like a woman haggling over prices at a market
The alignments we did carried a 6 months, 6,000 mile warranty. If you hit a pothole, you could bring your vehicle back for a free alignment during the warranty period. And yes, because the guy wasn't honest with you in the beginning, now you're all excited because he didn't do his job properly nor honestly. People like this make it bad for the rest of the industry. One additional point, vehicle alignment continues to change over time, because gravity weakens the springs, which changes ride height, and affects alignment. No, my guys never whacked the transmission to change alignment. It's far simpler to loosen the tie rod end, make the adjustment, and tighten it. By the way, gone are the days of using strings and mirrors to check alignment. These days, $35,000 laser beam, computerized alignment machines are implemented. You're paying for the labor to set the machine up, make the adjustment, take the sensors off your car, perform a test drive, and the warranty. Was it done? I don't know, but if you were my customer, I'd have been up front with you, gotten the tires you asked for, invited you back if you had any questions about the alignment, and gone over the alignment and tire warranties, as well as how we will help you maintain those tires... free rotations, air pressure checks, free flat repairs, etc. Some people just don't always do their jobs. Okay, that was a lot more points than one, sorry. It was rather crass to talk about "the other kind of hair."
You’d be doing the alignment every week with all the potholes in my area.
Did you ask for the old parts back?
What did the old tires look like (was there any irregular wear)?
Thank you
Wouldn’t they have called you while it was on the alignment rack? And even with being on the rack, how would they do it that quick?
I did front-end alightment ONLY for 12 yrs. Every manufacturer has a recommended setting for the Caster, camber, and toe angles. They have + and - variance. And as long as its never been adjusted prior or and work is needed, the manufacturers original settings never change.
Americans really love BS their spoon-fed it from cradle to grave.
Good information! But I will say I can do 4 wheel alignments in 5-10 minutes on most Hondas and Toyotas camber caster and toe just depends on the tech
Dam took you a long time to tell this story
Get your old parts back
I had a similar experience at my local Tire Plus but only took it for alignment after replacing several suspension parts. They only adjusted the caster and toe and said my camber wasn't adjustable on my 96 Chevy truck, which was a lie. I later learned from two different shops, including the dealer. My local Tire Plus is a rip-off.
You are incorrect about the alignment adjustment. It's 6 100ths of an an inch. More than you are stating.
The first number to the right of the decimal is the tenths place. The second number is the hundredths place. So, .16 is 16 hundredths of an inch or a bit over 1/8 of an inch. 1/4 of an inch is ,25 in decimal form OR 25/100 which would be reduced to 1/4 & 1/8 of an inch is ,125. 👍😁
Do they ever adjust camber caster ?
Hey, do you know where you can get that gas pedal linkage? I’ve been looking for one of those and they are hard to find
For reference I have a 65 falcon with the stock linkage
I don't have a source. You're right, they are hard to find
@@PetesGarage dang, I’ll figure something out
That's the Big Daddy of all rats🔥🔥🔥⚙️⚙️⚙️
One of the best
You see how all he did was move the steering wheel right a tiny amount. The total toe stayed the same. There was no adjustment made
I noticed that too , Sure looks like they just moved the steering wheel
I went in with my Acclaim. It had taken the alignment tech 10 minutes. when he came to the service desk to give the desk clerk the keys, I noticed that he didn't have a speck of dirt or grease on him. I knew he hadn't done a thing. It takes a minimum of 45 minutes to do a proper alignment.
You're wrong in time frames. Guys that are good can pull vehicle on rack set up tires get steering wheel set and make adjustments on a vehicle and off rack in 12 minutes. I was taking 15 and they were bitching I take too long. You loosen a nut adjust the angle hold and tighten. Many cars are done in this time frame. The ones where adjustment points are easy to get too and adjust. I've seen it and done it
Shorten this video and stick to the facts on the alignment report and leave everything else out.
Yeah that free 16-point inspection?
What cam do you have ? 3:47
Comp 12-408-8
Awesome video dude. People watch your stuff and don’t realize the production that goes into doing this, your time organizing the content, the quality of the recording. This is awesome.
I appreciate that!
1:39....still not to it...bye.
Good points, but did you get your money back?
